Jason Plato and reigning champion Colin Turkington each took their first win of the British Touring Car Championship season at Donington Park this weekend.
The two Volkswagen teammates exchanged wins in the first two races whilst Honda’s Matt Neal took the chequered flag in the third.
After a disappointing weekend in Brands Hatch a fortnight ago which left the two 2014 title challengers without a win and out of the top five in the standings, both drivers looked commanding in the first two races, only failing to repeat the success in the third due to tyre choices and poor grid positions.
Meanwhile, Honda built on their successful opening weekend at Brands ago with two podiums each for Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal.
The result leaves Matt Neal top of the standings, two points clear of Turkington with Shedden in third a further 6 points back.
Honda sit second, just 14 points adrift, in the constructor’s championship despite Team BMR entering three cars to Honda’s two.
There is a three week gap to the next race weekend at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire on the 9th and 10th of May.
